Ryan Kadevari focuses his practice in the area of retirement plans and advises clients on issues regarding the administration of 401(k), profit sharing, cash balance, and traditional defined benefit plans. He regularly works with multiemployer plans and plans of tax exempt entities, public schools, and universities, including 403(b) and 457 plans.

Ryan assists clients with drafting and reviewing plan documents, plan amendments, summary plan descriptions, and preparing employee communications. He also works with clients regarding plan administration issues, including reviewing qualified domestic relations orders (QDRO’s), handling plan benefit claims and appeals, and service provider selection and monitoring.

Ryan also defends clients in responding to and resolving Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Department of Labor (DOL) plan audits and resolving plan compliance issues. He regularly prepares applications on behalf of clients under the various IRS and DOL remedial programs, including the IRS’s self-correction program and voluntary correction program. Ryan has successfully negotiated with the DOL and IRS to resolve penalties assessed against companies and benefit plans.

Ryan has extensive experience providing advice to multiemployer clients. Ryan advises boards of trustees on various issues, including trustees’ fiduciary responsibilities, reviewing service provider agreements and investment-related matters, and withdrawal liability.

Ryan’s practice also includes advising clients regarding handling employee benefit matters in corporate mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and reorganizations, and handling plan terminations.
