Bryan Card concentrates his practice in the area of retirement plans and advises clients on issues regarding 401(k), profit sharing, cash balance, and traditional defined benefit plans. He also works with multiemployer plans and plans of tax-exempt entities, public schools, and universities, including 403(b) and 457 plans.

Bryan assists clients with drafting plan documents, SPDs, preparing employee communications; analyzing plan administrative and fiduciary issues; reviewing qualified domestic relations orders (QDROs); preparing plan committee charters, bylaws, and resolutions.

Bryan advises plan sponsors on how to maintain compliance with the tax qualification rules, including corrections and compliance efforts under the Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System and in connection with Internal Revenue Service audits. In addition, Bryan advises plan fiduciaries on matters relating to their fiduciary duties under ERISA, including plan governance, reporting and disclosure obligations, benefit claims and appeals, selection and monitoring of plan service providers and guiding fiduciaries through Department of Labor investigations.

Bryan also has experience negotiating and advising employers on employee benefits matters arising in the context of mergers and acquisitions.
