Trucker Huss Director Clarissa Kang Inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel

Trucker Huss, APC is pleased to announce Director Clarissa Kang was inducted as a 2023 Fellow of The American College of Employee Benefits Counsel (ACEBC), at the College’s Annual Dinner held in New Orleans on November 4, 2023. The award marks the eleventh Trucker Huss attorney to be inducted into the ACEBC.

The ACEBC is an invitation-only organization of nationally recognized employee benefits legal experts with twenty or more years of experience. Fellows of the ACEBC are selected by the College’s Board of Governors from among employee benefits attorneys nominated for that honor and recommended for consideration by the Board’s Membership Committee after considering the recommendations of regional screening committees. Selection as a Fellow reflects the Board’s judgment that a nominee has made significant contributions to the advancement of the employee benefits field.

“The Firm congratulates Clarissa on her well-deserved induction as a Fellow of The American College of Employee Benefits Counsel,” said Trucker Huss President Bob Schwartz. “Clarissa has demonstrated expertise and dedication in every aspect of her career, including handling complex ERISA litigation matters and serving in leadership roles both at the Firm and in various benefits law organizations.  It’s hard to think of anyone more deserving of this honor than Clarissa.  And the fact that Trucker Huss has seen so many of its lawyers appointed to the College is a testament to the Firm’s continued position at the top of the field.”

Kang has over two decades of experience in all aspects of employee benefits and has handled a broad spectrum of litigation, including cases involving benefit claims, fiduciary issues, withdrawal liability, non-ERISA benefit plans (such as governmental plans and church plans), and class actions. In addition to serving as an advocate in active litigation, Clarissa advises and represents retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and plan fiduciaries in investigations and agency actions commenced by the U.S. Department of Labor, the Internal Revenue Service, and U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.

Kang is currently serving as the Employer/Management co-chair of the ABA Labor and Employment Law Section’s Employee Benefits Committee and is a frequent presenter and author on ERISA litigation, plan administration, benefit claims administration, and fiduciary responsibility.

Other senior or retired Trucker Huss attorneys who are Fellows of the ACEBC include Barbara Creed, Scott Galbreath, Brad Huss, Kevin Nolt, Mary Powell, Charles Storke, Lee Trucker, and Nick White.
