Trucker Huss, APC is pleased to announce Director Angel L. Garrett will be speaking on two panels for the American Bar Association (ABA) Tax Section meeting which will be held on May 12-14, 2022 in Washington, DC.
Angel will be speaking at the following sessions:
- “Employee Benefits Litigation” on Friday, May 13 from 9:30AM – 10:30AM ET: Panelists will discuss recent litigation and decisions of interest in the area of employee benefits law. Participants will learn how to explain recent litigation and decisions of interest in employee benefits law, and plan for employee benefit plan changes necessitated by recent litigation and decisions of interest.
- “Understanding the Impact of Hughes v. Northwestern University” on Saturday, May 14 from 8:30AM – 9:30AM ET: Panelists will discuss how courts have been applying Hughes v. Northwestern Universityin recent 401(k) and 403(b) plan litigation, the types of breach of fiduciary duty claims that are more likely to survive a motion to dismiss, steps that can be taken to reduce ERISA fiduciary risk in light of this litigation, and current perspectives from the U.S. Department of Labor and the employer community regarding self-directed brokerage accounts.
