This year attendees will celebrate the 50th anniversary of this special ABA program that has covered developments in the areas of employee benefits, life, health and disability insurance, and insurance regulation for half a century.
Clarissa Kang serves as Chair of the Employee Benefits Committee of the ABA TIPS Section and will welcome the attendees with opening remarks. She will also present during the conference on “Getting to ‘Yes’ in Mediation: Mastering the Art of Negotiation in Employee Benefits Cases,” where an experienced panel of mediators and advocates in employee benefit cases discuss the sometimes rocky road on the way to “yes”.
Catherine Reagan will moderate the panel “Prohibited Transactions Post Cunningham v. Cornell University” where the presenters will take an in-depth look at prohibited transaction claims in ERISA cases, including the types of transactions at issue, an overview of litigation related to prohibited transactions, and the effect of the United States Supreme Court’s decision in Cunningham v. Cornell University on pleading standards.
Brian Murray will moderate the panel “ERISA Hot Topics, Part Two: Health and Welfare Plans” discussing significant developments in the ERISA health and welfare benefits space over the past year from the perspectives of both plaintiff and defense counsel.
